The European Green Deal is intended as a growth strategy that could drive economic modernisation in the EU, but also economic recovery in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. In Japan, a new Green Growth Strategy may likewise be a conduit for economic recovery and a driver of new industrial policies.
The key question is how can we “build back better”, harnessing technological innovations and social behavioural changes with a focus on sustainability, resilience and inclusiveness.
On February 26, CEPS is hosting the first event in a series of two high-level dialogues between the EU and Japan on green transitions and circular industrial value chains.
During this “Greening the economy through Covid-19 recovery policies” webinar, CEPS will host a high-level dialogue between the Director of DG CLIMA at the European Commission and the Japanese ambassador to the EU, on “actual and practical economic recovery policies that can help with greening our economies”. In the second half of the meeting we continue the debate with Japanese and EU discussants.
The connection information will be sent in a separate email one hour prior to the event
