Breaking the ice: toward a new Arctic policy for the EU

Registration is closed for this event
The Arctic is undergoing more rapid than expected climate change and the introduction of geopolitics. Ahead of the Arctic Forum and the Arctic Council in October, as well as the institutional transition at the helm of the EU in November, the panel will review the changes that have taken place in the Arctic region since the publication of the Union’s 2016 Joint Communication and how the EU positions itself on key issues, especially in comparison to other Arctic Council members. The debate is expected to lead to a formulation of ideas that could inform policy adaptation under the authority of the next European Commission and High Representative.

Free participation in our meetings is a benefit of CEPS membership. Non-members may be admitted for Euro 50, paid in cash at registration. Representatives from the European institutions (Commission – Parliament – Council – EEAS – Committee of the Regions - CESE) & members of the press benefit from free entrance, too. A sandwich lunch will be served from 12.30 onwards.
