Cybersecurity@CEPS SUMMIT 2020

Registration is closed for this event
In its Shaping Europe’s digital future communication, the European Commission gave great impetus to digital policy and envisages a key role for EU cybersecurity strategy, in particular. The review of the Directive on security of network and information systems (NIS Directive) has been brought forward to 2020. The Commission is now assessing cybersecurity requirements for ICT products, implementing the new cybersecurity certification framework under the Cybersecurity Act and has identified the need for a Joint Cyber Unit to provide structured and coordinated operational cooperation that could include a mutual assistance mechanism in times of cyber crisis at EU level. What challenges are involved in moving from this wealth of policy initiatives to action and policy implementation? How is the rapidly evolving threat landscape and the use of AI and new technologies changing the approach to cyber resilience? And what role could Europe play in global cybersecurity governance to reform the multilateral system and respond to the recent call by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for a Digital European Decade? These and more questions will be raised and hopefully answered at our conference, which will contribute to outlining the next steps towards European Union Cybersecurity
