Poverty monitoring in the Covid-19 era

Registration is closed for this event
The conference will focus on how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted poverty monitoring in the EU, and what these changes mean for policy developments targeted at inclusive recovery. It aims to address three main questions:
  • How has the pandemic impacted poverty monitoring in Europe?
  • Has the crisis revealed deficiencies in measuring poverty in the EU?
  • How can poverty monitoring contribute to drive the allocation of funds under Next Generation EU, including via the Country-Specific Recommendations of the European Semester?

The discussion will inform on how to take into consideration the negative effects of the pandemic on poverty and social exclusion in the EU’s anti-poverty strategy and Action Plan to implement the European Pillar of Social Rights.

This conference will mark the end of a three-day Winter School organised by CEPS in the framework of the Horizon 2020 project InGRID2 on ‘Data for monitoring poverty and vulnerabilities in Europe’. This training event will gather twenty participants, including students, early-stage researchers, and policymakers to discuss issues of measurements of poverty, vulnerability, and living standards in the EU.
